Overview

Birla Institute of technology (BIT), Mesra was founded in 1955 by B M Birla, a renowned visionary and industrialist. BIT has been accredited by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and is considered as one of the premier engineering destinations in India.

 

BIT Mesra‘s campus recruitment program is organized as a central activity for all BIT campuses across the country i.e. Jaipur, Kolkata, Noida and Patna.

Campus

Sited on a 780 acre plot in Mesra, about 16 km from Ranchi, the BIT mesra campus is a self contained campus with residential, teaching and hangout zones. BIT Mesra with continuously improving infrastructure, new academic programs and re-structuring of existing programs enjoys a good reputation in academic and corporate circles.

 

The campus is self contained and equipped for every need of the students and faculty. The state-of-the-art library comprises hybrid resources (print and electronic) on science and technology, engineering, pharmacy, management and hotel management. The central library is automated for all its routine activities through the “LIBSYS” software.

 

The campus hosts two auditoriums that can comfortably accommodate 2500 people, gymnasium, indoor games facilities, a spacious playground,  2 canteens and 3 guest houses to accommodate guests comfortably.

 

The campus also houses a shopping complex comprising co-operative stores, stationary stores, tailoring units, cafeterias and other shops that cater to the daily requirements of around 5000 residents, a railway reservation counter, post office and an on campus dispensary.

 

 

Accomodation

The fully residential campus offers 11 hostels for boys and 3 separate hostels for girls. Male students are housed in single accommodation while the girls share their accommodation. There are facilities  for dining halls, common rooms and several indoor games.

 

Inter-hostel sporting and literary events are also held regularly.

The institute has been ranked No.16 among top engineering colleges in India in 2012 by the India Today group while it has been ranked No.15 in Outlook India’s top engineering colleges of 2012 survey.
