Overview

The school was founded by the Birla Educational Trust in 1944 as a Montessori school under the able guidance of Maria Montessori, the world famous pioneer in child education. It was then known as Shishu Mandir. The institution remained a day school till 1948 and the first hostel for children was built in the same year. By 1952, the school was changed into a purely residential institution. A year later, the school was accepted as a full member of the Indian Public School Conference. Under the vision and guidance of renowned educationist and industrialist   G.D. Birla, this nursery school gradually developed into a full-fledged public school in 1954. It has now 15 beautifully designed hostels catering to the needs of the 1000 pupils coming from different cultural backgrounds. The school has three sprawling green campuses with vast play grounds and courts.

According to a school spokesperson, “The school is dedicated to prepare conscientious and responsible citizens with a sense of integrity and honesty with a spirit of adventure, exploration, research and creation. The school believes in fostering each individual's potentialities and providing opportunities for successful learning and growth. We train the students in such a way that they learn to shoulder responsibilities and handle situations independently.”
