In keeping with its objective of bridging the gap between academia and industry, Mumbai based Council of Education and Development Programmes (CEDP) – India’s premier skill development institute – recently organised an industrial visit to The Lalit Mumbai for its Hotel Management students.
The purpose of the visit was to enhance the knowledge of the students by providing them industrial exposure that paves the way for the right skills for the right jobs. The students got an in-depth understanding of the hotel and its sub departments.
Comments Shaheen Khan, director of CEDP Skills Institute, “Our dedication to providing our students only the best and supporting them in their pursuit of various managerial concepts and knowledge will benefit our students and puts everyone in direct contact with industry experts which as a whole will enhance students’ ability to accelerate information sharing, and provide them in-depth knowledge about hospitality industry”.
During the visit, students also got to see Asia’s largest atrium lobby, followed by the boardroom and learn about the room service department (intro, timings and functions). Brief details about the functioning of these departments were shared by Pasang from F&B service department in the hotel.
The students were also briefed about other departments and thereafter they visited conference rooms, lobby, banquets, board room, laundry, hotel rooms, bar, basement, back area, banquet halls-royal crown, emerald, pearl, private, executive rooms, twin rooms, suites and king size double bed rooms. Students found the visit very useful.
The hotel staff were very cooperative and demonstrated their technical expertise. The staff members clarified all the queries of the students with detailed answers. The visit offered students a chance to relate their theoretical knowledge to the practical world.
CEDP, the pioneer institute in skill development and training, regularly conducts industry tours for the students to offer them industrial exposure while at the same time maintaining a balance between industry and academia.
Mumbai based Council of Education and Development Programmes (CEDP) was incepted in 2010 with the sole objective of providing improved quality of life to individuals and groups through apt training and education.
