168 universities to participate in CUET, UG 2023

According to officials speaking to PTI, at least 168 universities have chosen to use the Common University Entrance Exam (CUET) for undergraduate programme admission so far, up from 90 universities the previous year.

Although additional colleges are anticipated to choose the test for admissions, the current application deadline of March 12 is also quite likely to be extended.

The 168 universities include 31 state universities and 44 central institutions, including  Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in Delhi, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar School of Economics in Karnataka, Barkatullah University in Bhopal and Cotton University in Guwahati.

There are 27 recognised universities that will accept applicants for their undergraduate programmes based on CUET scores. According to a senior official, there are 66 private universities taking part in the CET this year, including  NIIT University in Rajasthan, UPES in Dehradun and Bennett University in Uttar Pradesh. The exam will be given between May 21 and May 31.

In March of last year, the University Grants Commission (UGC) declared that all central universities would conduct undergraduate admissions through a common entrance test rather than based on Class 12 grades. By July 2023, universities will have finished the undergraduate (UG) admissions procedure, and the new academic year can start on August 1. The CUET-first UG’s administration, which took place in July of last year, was hampered by errors.
