A total of 200 students have registered for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2024 exams at the new overseas centres in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Kathmandu.
The examination, conducted by IIT Madras and aimed at facilitating admissions to prestigious engineering institutions, is scheduled to take place on May 26, 2024.
IIT Madras began accepting applications for the JEE Advanced 2024 on April 27, 2024.
The three new exam centres abroad were added in the first week of May to the already existing 229 exam centres across India which are listed on the institute’s website www. jeeadv.ac.in.
The application fee for the exam centres in India, the UAE and Nepal is different.
The exam conducting body also chalked out seven zones for IIT JEE Advanced exam centres in India, namely, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati,IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee.
Applicants had to select eight exam cities of their choice in the order of preference. Those who had already chosen an Indian exam centre without the option for foreign centres, were allowed to modify their exam city preference to include the newly added cities.
Interestingly, the foreign additions have not gone down well with all. As a student remarked, “It’s not fair to focus on students abroad while students from India struggle to get in. Foreign students should travel to India to appear for the entrance exam and be in the same queue and quota to get into these prestigious institutions.”
It may be noted that the syllabus and the exam pattern is available at jeeadv.ac.in.
Final results of JEE Advanced 2024 will be declared on June 9.
