53% Indian students comfortable with online learning: survey

Brainly, the world’s largest online learning platform, has released the findings of its latest survey titled ‘Lockdown and Learn-From-Home model’. Based on a sample size of 2,371 respondents, the survey aims to understand how the past year has changed the education and learning patterns of students across India.

Some of the key findings of the key trends highlighted by the survey include:

1. Increasing Acceptance: The majority of surveyed students (54% approx.) said that they were now comfortable with the online learning model. A similar trend was observed when questioned about the learning mode preference once schools reopened. More than half of the survey respondents preferred the blended learning model over others.
2. Online platforms Save the Day: In the past year, online learning platforms have served as a critical support system for students. The survey indicated that every one in four students in India primarily cleared their doubts through platforms like Brainly. Others also took support from their school teachers (17%) and parents (8%).
3. Students Wary of Going Back to Schools: With the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, most of the students were apprehensive about going back to school at present. About 56% of students preferred continuing with online learning in the current scenario.
4. Students Feel Empowered: A critical finding of the survey was that students feel more empowered with online learning platforms. About two-thirds of the students said that they were now more ‘flexible’ and ‘self-reliant’ than before. About half of them also felt more ‘confident’. A large chunk of students even claimed that such platforms helped them learn at their own pace, something which is otherwise not possible.

Now, more students, parents, and teachers have learned how to use online tools for education and we believe that the blended learning approach will be the way to go forward for the industry.”
