82 educators honored with National Teachers Awards 2024

Happiness labs, gamified assessments, home-based education visits, and eco-friendly innovations like an automated school bell made from recycled materials were among the highlights at the National Teachers Awards ceremony, held on Thursday and conferred by President Droupadi Murmu.

Chandralekha Damodar Mestri from Goa received accolades for bridging language gaps and inspiring a love of learning through innovative, low-cost teaching aids and home visits. Sagar Chittaranjan Bagade from Maharashtra was recognized for raising awareness about social issues affecting marginalized groups and providing his students with international exposure through dance performances, a feat noted by the Asia Pacific Book of World Records.

K Suma from Andaman and Nicobar Islands was honored for enhancing school infrastructure and promoting wellness through yoga camps, while Minakshi Kumari from Bihar was celebrated for engaging the community, preventing 20 child marriages, and boosting girls’ participation in academics and sports.

Hukam Chand Chaudhary from Rajasthan was awarded for his low-cost, project-based innovations, including an AI-powered chatbot and a recycled material school bell. Pallavi Sharma, Principal in Delhi, was recognized for creating a Maths and Science Park and a “Happiness Lab” to enrich student learning experiences.

Teachers like Mantaiah Chinni Bedke and Narasimha Murthy H K were also celebrated for their innovative, low-cost materials and gamified learning methods that foster creativity and problem-solving skills among students.

The awards honor 50 teachers for their exceptional contributions, with each recipient receiving a certificate, Rs 50,000, and a silver medal. The selected teachers were chosen through a rigorous process involving district, state, and national evaluations, and will have the opportunity to meet the Prime Minister.
