Overview

Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Kanpur is a coeducational english medium day school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. Promoted by the Jaipuria Charitable Trust/Seth Anand Ram Jaipuria Education Society, the school’s foundation stone was laid by late prime minister Indira Gandhi on September 13, 1966. The school became fully operational after the inauguration done by our Late President Dr. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmad on October 26, 1974.

The school has a systematic and integrated approach to staff development that focuses on the professional learning of the teachers and establishes the classrooms as an important center for teachers’ development which is central to successful school improvement. COMFEST and SAJMUN are the two students’ organized events of our school which have become very popular at the local, National and International level. These have developed leadership qualities and managerial skills in students. The school recently introduced ERP system looks for better generation of MIS and centralized data so that management and staff can have a quick data review of each and every child whenever and wherever required.

Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Kanpur is a Global member of Round Square, is approved by ISO and is affiliated by British Council. We are the only one in the city to host Atal Tinkering Lab (Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) is Government of India’s flagship initiative to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the country.)

Campus

The Jaipuria campus is spread in 9.05 acres with 3 football and cricket fields, 2 buildings, basketball courts, tennis courts, assembly hall, reception, labs, art and craft rooms, fashion design room, music centre, library, splash pool, canteen, book shop, staff rooms, various faculty rooms, infirmary, botanical garden, and swing fields.

We have 58 classrooms and all are well equipped with ITC teaching-learning facilities. We have 9 laboratories:

Academics

The school is recognised by the Government of U.P. and is affiliated to Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi, under the 10+2 pattern. Apart from the specification of the Council, the school very closely caters to the social requirements of the day and therefore designs competitions, workshops, seminars, symposium and various other non-academic development modules to bring out the best in the student. Moral and religious instructions are also imparted to the students of all classes.

The various endeavours adapted by the school include:

Jaipurian pedagogy includes-Teachers’ empowerment, participation in research, role playing, research projects, field trips, reading, brain storming, seminars, workshops, gallery visits, hands on activities, classroom presentation and participation.

The use of ICT in classrooms enhances learning and teaching. This helps in development of Pupil Capability & Classroom Management.

Our teachers are innovative and try new things to add to our pedagogical bags of tricks with a focus on purpose and intentionality. One of these is Metacognitive strategy where students are given opportunities to plan &organize, monitor their own work, direct their own learning and to self-reflect along the way. We provide students with time and space to be aware of their own knowledge and their own thinking so that their accountability is increased.

A rich co-curricular education menu helps develop and nurture students’ talents in performing arts, dance, theatre, painting, debate, among others. Besides demonstrating their acumen in inter-school, state and national competitions, students also get to participate in a flurry of in-house activities year-round, including debates, extempore, talent shows, live scientific illusions and mathematical origami, geographical locations of the poets and authors of literature, food festivals, rangometry, comparative studies of countries through live tableau of cuisines, art forms, toys, artifacts and fashion shows.

Sporting activities include horse riding, archery, golf, athletics, karate, gymnastics, skating, table tennis, football, basketball, cricket, yoga, lawn tennis and boxing.

Students of Jaipuria are infused with the sense of empathy and thus they indulge in philanthropy. Various projects to teach the less privileged, catering to their needs, distributing books, food and survival kits. Our students enjoy adventure camps and trips, state, national and international level sports, peer mentorship – by senior school students etc.

Admission

The admission process includes these steps:

  • Parents can apply for admission by registering online or by visiting the school.
  • One can seek information through our various Social Media Handles.
  • Hoardings and Print Ads are essential mediums too.

Registration forms need to be filled in and submitted to the school office before the end of the registration period. Prospectus and admission forms for admission can be obtained from the school office on payment of Rs. 500. The registration fee, for admission is Rs. 1000.

For classes Nursery and Prep, photocopy of the child’s birth certificate issued by the Municipal Corporation or the concerned civic authority must accompany the registration form.

Age criteria

Nursery: 3 to 4 yrs.

Class I: 5 plus as on 1st April of the academic session in which the admission is sought.

Children of Defense Services personnel might get preference in admission.

Admission to class I and above is based on performance in the written test.

Achievement

  • Seth Anandram Model United Nations Club organised the Intra-School Web Conference on May 23, 2020. The conference was completely virtual and took place on the Zoom cloud meeting. Principal Shikha Banerjee was the Chief Guest for the conference. Respected members of the management and various teachers of the school were also present at the first digital model UN conference. The committee was International Monetary Fund, with the agenda being “Deliberation on the Economic Recession and resulting crises due to Novel Coronavirus and procedural guidelines for financial recovery”. The platform saw twenty delegates, including the alumni recognised for their zeal for debates .The conference showcased dynamism, vision and vigour. SAJMUNC succeeded in holding a productive and informative session despite all constraints.
  • Hindi Creative Writing activity was organised for the students of classes VI to X and Class XII on May 27, 2020. The topics were given to the students a day before the activity and about 95 students participated virtually in the competition and expressed their profound thoughts on various topics.
  • The Covid-19 pandemic is one that has taken all the nations by storm and has affected the daily lives of many. In lieu of the pandemic, Ashbury College, a school based out of Canada organised a discussion on the pandemic using the UN Sustainable Development Goals as the lens. The discussion consisted of 80 schools from over 5 continents, part of the Round Square network. A teacher and Head of the Department (Computer Science)- Manish Seksaria (Round Square Representative) along with 4 students of Grade 12: Divy Tandon, Suryansh Agarwal, Aryika Mehrotra and Ishan Gupta participated in the discussion.They explored the issues on poverty, disparity, equality and environmental sustainability.
  • An online yoga activity titled ‘Bliss Yoga’ was hosted by Round square member Birla Public School Pilani, Rajasthan, India on 21st June, 2020. The students learnt to use yoga and mindfulness to improve their focus while developing a lifelong awareness of the importance of their physical and emotional health.
  • RS Global webinar on “How to Make Face-Shields” was hosted by Jeremy Brown (Incharge -Markham MakerSpace face-shield project) of Markham College, Peru on 8th June, 2020. Markham College has offered MINSA (The Ministry of Health) its expertise design to make Face-shields for healthcare workers in Peru. The webinar consisted of schools from across the globe which are a part of the Round Square network. Head of the Department (Computer Science) – Manish Seksaria (Round Square Representative) along with 4 students of Grade 12: Divy Tandon, Suryansh Agarwal, Aryika Mehrotra and Ishan Gupta were a part of the webinar. The demonstration of the face shield at the assembly line was an enriching and enlightening experience. The webinar came as a great networking opportunity for the students and for the School to connect with other Round Square Schools globally.
  • Every year on April 22, Earth Day marks the anniversary of the modern environmental movement which started in 1970. This year in 2020, we celebrated the 50th year of Earth Day. In the previous years this day was dedicated to many activities such as raising awareness about the environment through various events and functions as well as tree plantation drives. This year due to coronavirus lockdown, we did not get the opportunity to be a part of any such program. But our school surely did its best while everyone stayed indoors. The students participated in a virtual function, specially designed by the Art department, the efforts were praiseworthy. Our school Principal, Shikha Banerjee welcomed the Chief Guest, Dr. Sadhana Singh, Principal D.G. College, Kanpur. She briefed about recycling and using the waste to make something useful emphasizing that recycling is a small way to make a big impact on the environment. She also shared her views on the importance of protecting the natural ecosystem. The students chanted shlokas, sang a song specially prepared for Earth Day and a beautiful PPT presentation of all the paintings and art work was displayed, all related to ‘Save Earth, Save Life’. The celebration ended with a vote of thanks by our Vice Principal, Ashley Fernandez and our Head Mistress, Madhushree Bhaumik
  •  Few of our SAJSK ecowarriors were highly motivated when they read in newspapers the reappearance of Dolphins in Ganges due to reduction of Industrial pollution. Their anxiety about nature led them to participate in GANGA QUEST conducted under Namami Gange Project. They shared their enthusiastic participation with us.
  • The Final Level of National Aptitude Olympiad, National Mathematics Olympiad and National Talent Search by Epoch Olympiad were held in April 2019 for the students of Classes I and II.The following students shown the outstanding performance in the Final Level National Aptitude Olympiad

    On the 4th of July, 2019 a special ceremony was organised in the school premises to felicitate the academic achievers for the session 2018-19.

    The five All India Rankers at the ICSE & ISC level were honoured by the Chairman of the Jaipuria Group of Institutions, Shri Shishir Jaipuria.

    The ICSE achievers were Vanya Jalan 99% (AIR 4) and Akshat Bajpai 98.8% (AIR 5).

    The achievers at the ISC level were Ashita Roongta with 99.75% (AIR 2), Abhishri Swarup with 99.5% (AIR 3) and Shlok Bhartiya with 98.75% (AIR 6).

    The recipients of the INSPIRE AWARD, bestowed by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India by virtue of performance within top 1% of the school board at the Class XII level examination were also recognised in the ceremony.

Being a day school, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School Kanpur does not provide accommodation facility.

Updates

  • An online inter school art competition – Fight against Covid-19 was organised by Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School, Jodhpur. 42 esteemed schools from the nation and across the globe participated in the event. 24 out of 200 entries in Junior Category and 28 out of 281 entries in Senior Category were judged as the best entries. The selected entries will be sent for being judged by artists of National repute. We are proud to announce that our entry is one of them.
  • An online workshop for the students of Class IX was organized by Nehru Science Center, Mumbai. It was hosted by Biology Department on May 16, 2020. About 140 students and all Science teachers actively participated in demonstrations. Rustagi demonstrated and explained scientific concepts behind a number of activities which are performed by us knowingly or unknowingly without knowing the mechanisms responsible for the same.
  • Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Kanpur -ATL-Team has taken an initiative to motivate students to explore their creative potential, identify problems in their surroundings and come up with innovative ideas. To create zest for learning and enthusiasm among the children, challenge – 1 was given and students have come up with their wonderful ideas as solutions.
  • The school participated in the HSKU Inter School Recitation Competition (North Zone) – 2019 on 28th July 2019. The event was hosted by Nurture International School and held at Dr. Virendra Swarup Education Centre, Kidwai Nagar, Kanpur. Nayesha Arora of Class III bagged the first prize in group A and Arib Ziaur Rehman of Class V bagged the second prize in group B.
  • Pari Raheja of Class XII attended a summer school at Oxford Royale Academy, London from 09.06.19 – 22.06.19. She won an effort prize in Physics and received a special book from the project director, Adam Atkins for her resilience.
  • The school participated in the ICSE/ISC Inter School North Zone Quiz Competition on 28th July, 2019 hosted by Mercy Memorial School, Kanpur. The quiz master for the event was Gaurava Yadav Founder & CEO, EduAce Services. The quiz was conducted in two categories, Senior and Junior. Ananta Sharma of Class X and Pranav Malpani of Class IX bagged the Second position in the Junior Category whereas Yuvraj Kapoor and Parth Bhatia of Class XI secured the third position in the Senior Category.
