On Sunday, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar unveiled the “Chatra Parivahan Suraksha” scheme, aiming to offer complimentary transportation services to school students residing in villages across the state.

Speaking at a ‘Jan Samvad’ event in Ratangarh village, Karnal district, Khattar announced that the transport department would supply bus services to villages with more than 50 students attending distant schools. Additionally, minibus services would be extended to villages with 30 to 40 such students.

For villages where the number of students attending far-off schools ranges between five and ten, the education department will intervene to provide the necessary transportation support, he further explained.

An official statement confirmed the launch of the “Chatra Parivahan Suraksha Yojana” from Ratangarh village, commencing the following day. Buses operated by the roadways department will be stationed in the village at 7 am, transporting students to school and back home. The successful implementation in Karnal would lead to an extension of the scheme across the entire state, as per the statement.

The service will be provided free of charge to students, with the district education department shouldering the expenses. This initiative is anticipated to benefit a substantial number of school-going students throughout Haryana, as highlighted in the statement.

Khattar emphasized the state government’s proactive engagement with villages and wards through the ‘Jan Samvad’ program, aimed at addressing the concerns of the most marginalized members of society.

“Over the past nine years, we have extended the benefits of various schemes to nearly one crore people. Our primary objective is to elevate the living standards of every underprivileged family and enhance their financial stability,” he added.
