BBPS RH main block: holistic values-driven education
Set on a 3.8-acre eco-friendly campus in the national capital, Bal Bharati Public School, Rohini (BBPS RH, estb.1989) has earned an excellent reputation for delivering holistic values-driven education with special focus on skills development to its 3,053 students instructed by 124 teachers and coaches. In the latest EW India School Rankings 2024-25, this pre-primary to class XII school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is ranked among Delhi’s Top 50 co-ed day schools.
BBPS RH was promoted in 1989 under the aegis of the Child Education Society, Delhi (CES, regstd. 1944). The society currently owns and manages 26 BBPS ‘units’ countrywide — with the objective of “nurturing confident and capable learners prepared to meet the challenges of the future”. Since then, the school has graduated 24 batches of notable alumni, including artists, sportspersons, bureaucrats, scientists, businessmen and social media influencers
“Our prime objective is to educate and empower students in a safe environment to enable them to develop academically, emotionally, socially, and ethically. Our team headed by Nikhil Channa, Chairman and Harsh Kumar, Secretary with 124 well-trained teachers and coaches ensures that every student has access to learning opportunities to develop multiple intelligences within a school culture strongly rooted in Indian values and traditions mixed with international outlook. At BBPS RH, education is structured to develop students into well-rounded citizens with the skills to succeed nationally and globally,” says Geeta Gangwani, a chemistry postgraduate of Delhi University with over three decades of experience in K-12 education appointed principal of BBPS RH in 2016.
The school’s focus on holistic education has paid rich dividends in board exams. In 2025, the batch of 155 students who wrote the class XII CBSE boards averaged 81.09 percent with science topper Soumil Aggarwal averaging 97.60 percent and securing admission into IIT-Kanpur. The batch of 181 students who wrote the class X CBSE board exam averaged 81 percent and topper Tanvi Garg averaged 99 percent. Last year, BBPS RH was conferred with the Times Education Icons Award 2024.
To provide its 1,621 boys and 1,432 girl students balanced education, the management has liberally invested in infrastructure development. The school’s aesthetically landscaped campus offers globally comparable academic, co-curricular and sports and games opportunities. Academic facilities include 70 classrooms equipped with ‘interactive intelligent senses’ panels, three computer, three science labs, an Atal Tinkering lab and Math lab, two libraries stocked with 33,582 volumes, a knowledge center for teachers, and a 200-seat multipurpose hall. Under the school’s BALA (building as a learning aid) initiative, the campus serves as a learning lab, providing students with rich experiential learning opportunities. Moreover environmental consciousness is integrated into the curriculum. The campus features solar panels, rainwater harvesting and composting pits and children maintain a horticulture garden.
A Minimum Fitness Program and comprehensive indoor and outdoor sports facilities for cricket, basketball, football, swimming, table tennis, badminton, taekwondo, yoga, athletics, chess, throwball, and volleyball ensure students’ physical growth and development. Students are also encouraged to play traditional Indian games such as kho-kho, lagori, and hopscotch. Moreover, to develop their multiple intelligences, trained tutors mentor students in visual and performing arts.
“Social service and community outreach are also embedded in the learning experience. We have signed partnerships with several NGOs to provide our students volunteer opportunities,” says Gangwani, a recipient of the Global Teacher Accreditation of the British Council, State Teacher Award 2015 and MHRD National Award to Teachers 2017.
Co-curricular activities apart, a highlight of the BBPS RH curriculum is its skills development programme under which class VI-XII students have the opportunity to choose CBSE Skill Modules and skill subjects such as artificial intelligence, financial literacy, etc. In addition, initiatives such as the Skill Builder Program, Entrepreneurship Cell, and clubs such as Eco Club for Mission Life, Interact, Health and Wellness, Wordsmiths, Astronomy among others, provide students opportunity to learn coding, robotics, design thinking, problem-solving, while inculcating life skills. BBPS RH has also signed international collaboration partnerships including meaningful physical and virtual exchange programs with schools in Denmark, Germany, Australia, Japan, Taiwan, along with organizations such as Generation Global. These cross-cultural learning opportunities have developed students’ life skills and given teachers exposure to best practices of the global teaching fraternity.
Gangwani credits the management’s continuous investment in professional development to update the skills and talents of its 115 teachers for the school’s evolution into “a progressive 21st century education institution”. “While teacher development will continue to be a strong focus area, we want to build new flexible learning studios, innovation labs, maker spaces, and upgrade our sports facilities and green spaces,” says Gangwani.
