S. P. Mandali’s Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (WeSchool), Mumbai, has signed a landmark agreement with the “Lead from the Back” (LfB) team to promote and embed the LfB leadership philosophy, conceptualised by former CEO and vice chairman of Tata Motors, Ravi Kant.
The signing ceremony, held at the WeSchool Mumbai campus, brought together senior leadership from both sides to affirm a shared commitment to nurturing purpose-driven leadership.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr Uday Salunkhe, group director, WeSchool, said the collaboration reflects the institute’s belief in “leading with purpose,” aligning closely with the principles of Kant’s book. He emphasised the importance of building value-driven teams that contribute to both organisations and society.
Kant, addressing faculty and students, explained that the LfB philosophy empowers leaders to build strong, cohesive teams capable of achieving the extraordinary. He expressed confidence that the partnership would inspire organisations and educational institutions to adopt this model, thereby strengthening the wider leadership ecosystem.
The agreement outlines a series of joint initiatives, including leadership workshops, curated sessions for students and faculty, short-term programmes, research projects and the integration of LfB insights into WeSchool’s curriculum.
Established in 1977, WeSchool is part of the S.P. Mandali Trust, which runs 40 educational institutions across India. With campuses in Mumbai and Bengaluru, WeSchool is known for its design-led and innovative approach to management education, offering specialised programmes in business design, e-business, healthcare, retail, analytics, media and entertainment.
