PW invited parents of Blue Bells Preparatory School, Sector 4, Gurgaon to share insights on how they teach their children the value of patience

“Patience isn’t a lesson we teach our son Agastya (class I); it’s a value we practise together every day. From taking turns during family board games to carefully mixing ingredients while cooking together, we show our son that good things take time. Even when he proudly helps me with household chores —where tasks take a little longer than expected — we embrace the slow pace. More than anything, we learn patience together with him — reminding ourselves to slow down, hold hands, take a deep breath, and appreciate the journey just as much as the destination. It reminds us that the slowest moments are often the ones that build strongest bonds” — Sneha Kalantri, Team Lead, Operations, Airbnb
“I teach my daughter Sanskriti (class I) the value of patience by practising patience with her every day. I believe children learn more from our actions than our words. I explain to them that good things take time. I encourage them to wait for their turn, listen carefully, and remain calm when things don’t happen as they expect. When our daughter gets upset, I calmly help her understand her feelings instead of reacting with anger. I appreciate their patience and remind them that remaining patient helps us make better decisions. I believe that with love, care, kindness and respect, children slowly learn the value of patience. It is a virtue that will help them become confident and responsible individuals in the future” — Aparna Sharma, Director, Dynamic HealthRise Pvt. Ltd
“We teach our children — Tiahna (class II) and Adyeh (class LKG) — that meaningful achievements take time and consistent effort. Through everyday moments — whether completing a puzzle, learning a new skill or waiting for their turn — we encourage them to stay calm, keep trying and trust the process. We also lead by example, exhibiting patience in our own actions. We remind them that patience is not about waiting passively but about being positive, resilient, and determined while working towards their goals” — Ishita Dutta, Data Analytics Professional, Xceedance Consulting India Pvt Ltd
“We teach our son Vihaan (UKG) the value of patience through everyday experiences. Whether it’s waiting for his turn, completing a puzzle or while playing in the park, He patiently waits for weekend to arrive to engage in activities that are dedicated to Saturdays. Watering plants and watching them grow. Or learning a new skill, we remind Vihaan that good things take time. We also try to model patience ourselves. We try to focus on gradual progress instead of expecting instant results. Grateful to the teachers and staff of Blue Bells for their patience and dedication, which makes our child’s school feel like a second home” — Komal Ahuja, Lead – Projects (Exotel)
