Navneet Foundation’s teacher training programme completes 10 years

Navneet Foundation’s Teachers’ Training Programme has completed 10 years, having trained nearly 35,000 teachers through around 670 workshops across Maharashtra.

Launched in June 2016 as part of the foundation’s social responsibility initiatives, the programme provides free training in subjects including mathematics, English, Marathi, scholarship examinations, activity-based learning, NEP 2020 and school leadership. It serves teachers from aided and unaided schools.

The programme was initiated by Navneet Director Anil Gala and has been led by former education officer Basanti Roy. Its workshops use activity-based sessions and group work, with training conducted by subject experts. Sessions based on revised textbooks are currently under way.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the foundation launched the NavDisha Portal and mobile application to provide teachers with educational articles, videos, government resolutions, circulars, book introductions and success stories. Around 20,000 teachers currently use the portal.

“Over the last decade, our Teachers’ Training Programme has aimed to empower educators with skills, modern techniques and a supportive community,” Gala said. “Our vision remains unchanged—to continuously invest in our teachers.”

The foundation is marking the milestone with an event at Navneet’s office in Dadar. Mumbai Division Deputy Director of Education Rajesh Kankal and South Mumbai Education Inspector Dr Vaishali Veer are expected to attend. Experts and teachers associated with the initiative will also be felicitated.
