Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan School (PSBB School) was established in 1958 by a group of housewives of the Nungambakkam Ladies Recreation Club. Today the school has six branches with over 8000 students and 500 staff members. The school provides a perfect ambience to the students to ‘think good and act good ‘. ‘Catch them doing good’ is the spirit of the faculty; the students are openly and loudly praised for their achievements and privately counseled on their lapses. The school provides holistic and progressive education in tune with the latest developments in education. Enable children to appreciate and imbibe our rich cultural heritage and values.
In 2010, Mrs Y.G. Parthasarathy, dean of the PSBB Schools, received the prestigious Padma Shri from the Government of India in education and literature.
In 2011, the PSBB group of schools, headquartered at Nungambakkam was ranked first in the south zone and came third in India under the day schools category as per the Education World – C Fore Survey 2011.
In 1959, one year after its inception, the school shifted to a campus of its own at the present premises in Nungambakkam. As the school grew in strength, the need to extend its branches arose and thus emerged the T.P.Road Junior School in 1971, as an annex to the school in Nungambakkam.
The sporting facilities are admirable in all branches, but the K.K. Nagar branch encloses a vast playground sizing around an acre along with a cricket pitch and football nets. Other facilities include a swimming pool, tennis court, table tennis arena and a full size basketball court.
Regular classes are available throughout the year for other indoor and outdoor games.
Kindergarten and primary school students are trained in sports by EduSports, a venture providing holistic education through sports started by IIT and IIM alumni. Many children welcome these sessions over standard system of playground sporting as it involves their brain to work along with physical events making it a great experience for them on the whole.
The school is affiliated to CBSE board, Delhi.
Extra curricular activities are also encouraged. Importance is given to lateral thinking and problem-solving skills. Yoga and meditation has been inculcated into the curriculum. Sports like cricket and tennis are integral part of the school life. Swimming, regarded as a survival skill is compulsory for juniors.
