Jamnabai Narsee School is a co-educational day school affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), the International General Certificate of Secondary Education conducted by the University of Cambridge International Assessment Examinations (CAIE), United Kingdom (IGCSE) and the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). It was founded in 1971 and over the years it has become well renowned for academic excellence as well as co-curricular competency in art, sports, and other creative fields. The school is situated in Juhu Vile Parle Development Scheme in Navi, Mumbai.
It has over 4800 students from lower KG to high school i.e., it offers 10+2 education. The school campus is spread over 200,000 square feet with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
The school campus building houses over 124 classrooms for students from nursery to class XII. In addition, there are rooms for academic activities such as the technical drawing room, the art room, the maths laboratory, the environmental science room and rooms for Bharat Natyam, kathak and folk dance, a library, stationary, copy room, science labs, fashion designing room, the sitar room, rooms for Indian and Western music and four modern computer centres.
The central area in the first floor is the arena for cultural activities. The physics/biology/chemistry laboratories and the science activity centre are on the second floor. The school hall has a capacity of 1100 people.
Sport facilities on campus include courts for basketball, volleyball, throwball and handball. The school has leased an adjacent public maidan and converted it into a playground for the students.
The school is affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi, International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), The International General Certificate of Secondary Education conducted by the University of Cambridge International Examinations, United Kingdom (IGCSE) and The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) offered by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi, India.
The examinations for promoting students from class IX to X are conducted at the end of the year. The responsibility for promotions lies with the head of the school in accordance with attendance and pass criteria as laid down by CISCE, New Delhi.
The IGCSE exams can be taken in November/December or May/June. The NIOS’s curriculum provides knowledge that is functional and sets the path for further studies. It was introduced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (Department of Education), New Delhi. The student should pass in minimum five subjects including English and compulsory subjects to qualify for NIOS board examinations.
Extracurricular:
The school provides co-curricular activities like debates, dance competitions, art and craft, etc. and students are encouraged to join NCC (National Cadet Corps). The school also celebrates sports day and encourages students to take part in environment projects.
