The K J Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce, founded in 1961, college recognize is a non-government aided by the Government of Maharashtra. The college is affiliated to Mumbai University.
The college library covers a total area of 10,732 square feet with 67,744 books, 122 periodicals and journals, 14 newspapers, 112 encyclopedias, 136 maps, 20 computers with internet, 946 CDs, 59 VCDs and 31 audio cassettes,. Separate seating arrangements have been made for girl and boy students. The reading room has 80 tables and 418 chairs. The computer lab has 52 computers with internet connection and the latest software.
The LCR or Ladies Common Room is a facility available to girls’ students only. Girls are allowed to read, study, eat or even relax during free time in this room.
The college also has a gymkhana with indoor games facilities and two large playgrounds for outdoor games such as cricket, football and volleyball.
