Goethals Memorial School (GMS) is a residential-cum-day school for boys, affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. It is an Edmund Rice educational institution run by the Congregation of Christian Brothers. The school was founded in 1907, and is named after Jesuit Archbishop of Calcutta, Paul Goethals. The land for the school was donated by the Maharaja of Bardhaman and is situated five kilometres from Kurseong town, between Siliguri and Darjeeling. It offers education to boys from class I through class XII with English as the medium of instruction. The school was previously all boys but the introduction of higher secondary sections led to the introduction of girls in the school.
Goethals Memorial School is set in a forest five kilometres from Kurseong between Siliguri and Darjeeling at an altitude of (5491 feet) above sea level. The school provides various academic and co-curricular facilities which include classrooms, a library, club rooms etc. Sporting facilities are provided for various games such as football, basketball, cricket, volleyball, netball, hockey, track and field, billiards, badminton and table tennis.
The school teaches boys from primary school to secondary school. The senior secondary sections are co-educational.
The school is affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and follows their prescribed curriculum. Students appear for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examinations in class X and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations in class XII.

Admissions are made provisionally to class XI immediately after the current year’s ICSE examinations. The admission will be confirmed only after the receipt of the ICSE/secondary board results of the students.
Incomplete forms and lack of required documentation or any attempts to use friends or influential people in procuring recommendations will lead to automatic disqualification of the applicant.
The cost of the application form along with a copy of the prospectus is Rs.1000.00 only and payable by bank transfer.
An admission fee and the first instalment of fees are to be paid together to complete the process of provisional admission within 15 days from the date of admission. An interview will be held with the applicant and the parents on the day of submission of these forms along with all required documents.
Day scholar applicants must be from Kurseong sub-division and Sonada. Girl applicants must apply as day scholars since boarding facilities are available only for boy applicants.
