The Mother’s International School (MIS), New Delhi is an English-medium co-educational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi and offers classes from pre-primary to senior secondary. The school is sited on the calm and serene campus of Sri Aurobindo Ashram on Sri Aurobindo Marg. It was established in 1956 by founder Surendra Nath Jauhar with the blessings of The Mother Mirra Alfassa, the spiritual partner and collaborator of Sri Aurobindo. The school started with just 15 students and it now boasts a student strength of around 2500 studying in its pre primary, primary, secondary and senior secondary classes.
MIS aims to “help a child to realise his own unique potential in the light of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother’s vision of integral education”.
The Mother’s International School is sited amidst the sylvan surroundings of Sri Aurobindo Ashram (Delhi branch) campus on Sri Aurobindo Marg. It offers well-equipped laboratories in all departments for better understanding of the subjects. Apart from the hi-tech computer lab, the school offers a book store, library, auditorium and cafeteria.
Sports facilities include a 400m athletics track, two basketball courts, three badminton courts, two volleyball courts, table tennis room with eight tables, a gymnasium, cricket nets, and football field. The school’s computer club, MINET (MIS Information Network) maintains the school website.
MIS is an English medium, co-educational institute affiliated to CBSE. Four languages namely English, Hindi, Sanskrit and French are taught at the school; mathematics, science and social studies are taught till class X. It offers three streams of study beyond class X: science, commerce and humanities. Yoga is also included in the curriculum. The student/teacher ratio is approximately 1:35.
Extracurricular:
MIS encourages its students to participate in a variety of cultural and co curricular programmes for their holistic development. Inter-house competitions such as drama, oral interpretation, poem festivals, and debates are regularly held in the school.
The children also showcase their talents on the Talent Fiesta, held yearly on the 23rd of April, which is also the school’s foundation day.
