Delhi Public School (DPS), Sector 45, Gurgaon is a joint venture of the DPS Society and industrialist, educationist and social worker Ravi Jaipuria. DPS Gurgaon is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, and provides education from prenursery to class XII. The school was inaugurated on April 29, 2002 by Salman Khurshid, president of DPS Society and Narendra Kumar, chairman of the Society.
Says a school spokesperson, “DPS, Sector 45, Gurgaon seeks to draw out maximum benefits from education without missing out on the fun and sweetness of childhood. Learning at DPS, Sector 45, Gurgaon is interactive and tactile. We teach our children how to think and not what to think. All experiences are drawn from the real world. Each precious individual will comfortably create his/her own niche, will discover talents, nurture skills, find his/her forte and most importantly will be groomed to become lifelong learner.”
The school campus hosts three blocks – A, B and C – which are interconnected. The infant wing is fully air-conditioned and houses the pre-nursery and nursery classes. The primary wing houses preparatory class and classes I and II and offers ample play area, sand pit and activity space to aid in developing the children’s formative years.
The school offers three libraries for the primary, middle and senior school, four science labs for the senior students, a general science lab for middle school students, a geography lab for classes XI and XII, four IT labs, a psychology lab, a fashion technology lab and two math labs.
‘Discover Room’ for classes I and II was set up to give children an opportunity to undertake simple experiments to explore and understand the basic principles of science.
The auditorium has a seating capacity of 600 and is technically equipped for light and sound shows. The school also offers an amphitheatre, a bookshop which sells course books for all classes, stationary items and the school uniform, a cafeteria, a medical room with qualified doctor and nurse, a specially designed toy room, sand pit and a playground.
The sports infrastructure includes basketball court, football court, tennis court, volley ball court, skating rink and gymnasium comprising of a stepper, treadmill, exercising cycles, cross trainer and the rowing machine. The strength training section offers a multi-gym and free weights.
DPS, Sector 45, Gurgaon follows the curriculum prescribed by the CBSE and offers education from pre-nursery to class XII. It offers smart classes to make learning more interesting with flash and animation movies, and reaffirming the textbook concepts taught in class.
Extracurricular: The school promotes various clubs and associations such as INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage), interact Club, Astronomy Club and a Natural Resources Awareness Club.
DPS Gurgaon engages in student exchange programs with few schools in the UK and it is also a member of UKEIRI Program (UK – India Education and Research Initiative). Collaborative projects are undertaken in defined areas of mutual interest such as arts, teaching of languages, environmental studies etc. This program provides a unique platform for sharing of educational developments and reforms, opportunities for dialogue and networking.

Age eligibility:
For admission in pre-nursery the child should be 3+ years old as on September 30 of the academic year he/she is seeking admission for.
For admission in nursery the child should be 4+ years old as on September 30 of the academic year he/she is seeking admission for.
Admission for classes III to VIII is subject to availability of seats.
Admission to class XI is seamless and automatic for internal students. However, streams are allotted according to the final CCE result in May, 2013.
Students need to fill the internal form for allocation of stream within three working days after result declaration.
For external candidates the selection of candidates will be done on the basis of their performance in the written test and the interview with the admission committee.
Written test -The eligible candidates need to appear for an entrance exam on any one of the following days: Wednesday, January 30, 2013 or Saturday, April 6, 2013
Interview – Candidates need to appear for the interview along with their parents on the same day after the written exam
Result: The final list of candidates selected for provisional admission (April 2013) will be displayed on the school website at 3:00 pm on the day after the entrance exam
Reporting time for registration and written test: 08:15 am and it is compulsory for each applicant to carry a print of e-mail sent by principal/admission committee, two passport size photographs, a copy of grades / marks obtained in the first term and other assessments held till date.
A candidate who has been provisionally admitted in class XI will be granted admission based on the board result/CCE final result declared in May, 2013.
Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria for final admission must submit their grade sheet and registration form within three days of the declaration of board result.
The admission is based on the board result (60% weight age), internal admission test (20% weight age) and interview (20% weight age).
DPS Gurgaon promotes the INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) programme which aims at heritage conservation.
The Interact Club at DPS Gurgaon is a an initiative by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Government of India, to sensitize the club members towards the need to save and judiciously use the depleting natural resources.
