Founded in 1974, St. Kabir Public School Chandigarh is a co-educational day school run by the Kabir Educational Society-Chandigarh. It is affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi and offers classes from pre-nursery through class XII.
The school motto is ‘Labor Omnia Vincit’ i.e. Labour Wins All. Says a school spokesperson, “At St. Kabir, students and staff are expected to put in hard work and make the school motto their guiding principle, at all times”.
The school prides itself in achieving 100 percent results in the ICSE Examinations since 1980.
The school is sited on a five-acre campus at Sector 26, offering large, airy class rooms equipped with the latest scratch-proof, fire resistant ceramic steel boards, spacious and well equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and a well stocked library which features rich information resources and is constantly upgraded.
The computer lab and IT centre is equipped with the latest educational aids such as slide projectors, overhead projectors, multimedia technology and internet.
The auditorium is equipped with the latest sound and lighting equipment. The school also offers transport facility to students residing in Panchkula, Mohali and Chandigarh.
Sports facilities include a skating rink cum basketball court, an international standard lawn tennis court and one mini tennis court for beginners and play ground for Football, Cricket and Volleyball. Qualified coaches conduct training sessions in the school, 6 days a week.
The school is affiliated with CISCE and prepares students for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examination conducted at the end of classes X and the ISC examination at the end of class XII. At the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten level, the focus is on overall development in a stimulating environment with exciting resources. Students are regularly assessed, on an ongoing basis with no formal examinations. Outdoor play in the sand pit and the playground forms an essential part of their daily schedule.
The primary section comprises of classes I to IV and the middle section comprises of classes V to VIII. As the CISCE does not have a prescribed syllabus for these classes, they follow a curriculum developed in-house by well qualified and experienced faculty. Senior classes follow the ICSE curriculum; emphasis is placed on independent research and project work, which account for 20 percent of the final exam marks.
Extracurricular:
From class IV onwards, students are offered a variety of extra-curricular activities including Gymnastics, Taekwondo, Aerobics, Yoga, Skating, Photography, musical instruments (like Drums, Keyboard, Guitar etc.), Singing, Dancing and sports such as Basketball, Football, Tennis, Cricket and Skating.
Students participate in prestigious national level competitions such as Frank Anthony Memorial Debate Competition and Albert Barrow Memorial Essay Writing Competitions that encourage them to pen down their thoughts and express themselves on topical issues.

For admission to pre-nursery classes, the school needs to be contacted in the month of December each year. Admissions from nursery to class IX are subjected to available vacancies which are usually announced in March.
