DPS, Vijayawada is a co-ed day-cum-boarding school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Established in 2007, DPS, Vijaywada is a franchisee school of the well-reputed DPS Society, which has a network of 150 DPS schools countrywide.

Teaching is through projects and academic activities such as role play, group discussions, paper presentations, debates, etc. The school follows the semester system from class I to IV. The first semester ends in November and the second in March. From classes V to IX, three mid-term and three terminal examinations are conducted. Besides these, ‘cycle tests’ are conducted at regular intervals. All question papers are set in the CBSE Board exam pattern.

Extracurricular
Students have a time set apart for activities and sports on weekdays – 3:20 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Coaching is provided in table tennis, basketball, cricket, chess, roller skating, hockey and volleyball. Singing, art and craft, karate and other activities are also encouraged. Students participate in inter-school competitions and literary events.

The age for nursery admission is 3.6 years. The Application Form, along with the school’s profile, syllabus for screening assessment, and the other details should be obtained in person from the school’s office.
The child needs to go through a Screening Assessment (for classes I to X). An interactive session is held to assess gross and fine motor skills for nursery and preparatory classes.

DPS provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. The boarding houses are close to the main building. Each hostel accommodates 250 students. The hostel is air-conditioned and designed to provide ventilation and natural light. Running hot water is provided in all bathrooms and washbasins.
A full time nurse attends during school hours and a doctor is on call for emergencies. A room with four beds is available for children who are sick and require continuous medication and monitoring.
