Indian individuals preparing to take the widely recognized IELTS English language test can now benefit from a new feature designed to help them achieve their desired scores for global education and career aspirations. The IELTS One Skill Retake feature is now accessible at eligible IELTS Computer Delivered test centers in India. This feature allows test takers to retake any one of the four skills (Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking) if they did not achieve their target score for that specific skill during their initial attempt. It is currently available for those who have chosen the Computer Delivered IELTS test format.

IELTS One Skill Retake is already recognized by the Australian Department of Home Affairs, the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency, and an increasing number of universities and institutions each month.

Warwick Freeland, Managing Director of IELTS at IDP Education, emphasized that this new option underscores IELTS’ commitment to helping individuals attain their best scores and supporting organizations in attracting suitable candidates. The initiative enhances fairness by allowing test takers to retake a single skill if they feel their initial performance did not accurately represent their language proficiency level.

Piyush Kumar, Regional Director for South Asia and Mauritius at IDP Education, highlighted that IELTS One Skill Retake offers test takers a valuable opportunity to achieve their educational and migration objectives. It provides increased flexibility and aligns with test takers’ feedback, allowing them to retake a specific skill rather than the entire IELTS test.

Test takers who choose IELTS One Skill Retake will receive a new Test Report Form (TRF) with their updated score, which can be used for migration and study purposes. They can decide whether to use their previous or new TRF based on their score for the retaken skill.

While IELTS One Skill Retake is gaining recognition for migration and study purposes, IELTS continues to collaborate with governments and organizations to expand its acceptance. Test takers are encouraged to stay updated by checking the IELTS website for announcements regarding the recognition of this feature.
