The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), affiliated with the RSS, staged a protest on Wednesday at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s population control comments. They symbolically burned Kumar’s effigy at Sabarmati Dhaba while also calling for his resignation.
Kumar, while discussing the significance of women’s education in population control, provided a detailed illustration in the state assembly on Tuesday regarding how an educated woman can influence her husband during sexual intercourse.
His statements faced opposition backlash and criticism from women’s groups.
ABVP JNU president Umesh Chandra Ajmeera stated, “This protest aims to condemn Nitish Kumar’s derogatory statement. We demand his immediate resignation, advocating for an end to lawlessness and the establishment of a just rule in Bihar.”
In response to the controversy, Kumar apologized for his remarks in both legislative houses, resulting in chaos. He retracted his statement and expressed regret outside the legislature as well.
