AIIMS Delhi’s administration has resolved to execute the Integrated Nursing Education and Service Model at the premier medical institute.
This innovative approach, as sanctioned by the Indian Nursing Council through its communication on April 4, 2019, aims to intertwine nursing education with service, ensuring an elevation in patient care standards while also advancing the clinical proficiency of nursing students.
The AIIMS Delhi committee, under the leadership of Dr M Srinivas, the institute’s director, has been formed to evaluate the potential of incorporating this model within the institution. This committee is tasked with a comprehensive review of the Indian Nursing Council’s notification regarding the Integration of Nursing Education and Service (Dual Role), examining outcomes from other institutes that have implemented similar models, and formulating a proposal for the integration of nursing education and service within the AIIMS Delhi framework. The committee’s mandate includes identifying the potential benefits and challenges while proposing strategies for the effective implementation of the model, tailored to the unique context of AIIMS Delhi.
The deadline for the committee to submit its recommendations is November 30, 2023. Dr. Rima Dada, the head of the media cell, expressed the far-reaching goals of this innovative model in advancing patient care, nurturing the clinical skills of nursing students, and optimizing nursing personnel deployment in both academic and clinical setups.
