All India National U15 Chess Championship

Anya Seth Syed of Grade 7 had participated in the All India National U15 Chess Championship held at Mysore recently. This event had 300 boys and girls below 15 yrs of age participating. Anya stood 1st in her category of rating between 1200 and 1400 and won a prize of Rs 5000. She stood 13th as the final standing and was 2nd among the girls.

She has gained 45 rating points and had 7 points out of 9 with only 1 loss and 2 draws.

ANYA’S EARLIER ACHIEVEMENTS

Anya Seth Syed of Grade 7 had spent her summer enhancing her passion in chess.

She started by playing the Asian Games 2018 in Thailand. Being a part of the Indian contingent was of immense pride for all of us.

She played well and India stood first overall. Anya did not win an individual medal but the experience gained was priceless.

She played the Karnataka State U15 Championship and came 14th ,she won a trophy and cash prize.She had 6 points out of 9 .She was on table 1 till the 8th round and the loss of her last match got her ranking down from 1 to 14. She played the Karnataka U13 Championship and came 10th , she won a trophy and case prize. She had 6.5 points out of 9 which was a tie from 3rd place till the 10th.

She played the Karnataka State Akhaykalpa Fide tournament and stood first in the U12 category.

She represented Karnataka in the National U13 Championship 2018 which were held in Ahmadabad in June 2018.

She was also part of the Indian contingent playing in the Common Wealth Games 2018 held in Delhi in June – July 2018.
