AlmaBetter, an autonomous institute that offers technical education in Data Science and AI, and Software Development fields has entered the postgraduate education space with the launch of Innovarsity in affiliation with UK headquartered global Woolf University.
Backed by Kalaari Capital and 15+ angel investors, the institute has allocated funds of Rs. 50 cr for a postgraduate course in a tie up with Woolf, a global collegiate higher education institution with the same accreditation as other EU varsities.
Innovarsity will equip 5,000 learners with a globally recognized master’s degree in Computer Science, by April 2024.
Shivam Dutta, Co-founder & CEO, said a portion of the Rs 50 crore fund will go towards scholarships based on merit, financial aid, and improving students’ overall learning experience.
“Since AlmaBetter was founded in 2020 by five IIT alumni, we have been aiding tech enthusiasts and learners to challenge the traditional way of education by focusing on outcome-based learning powered by AI, called “Competency-based Learning “, he said.
The institute offers programs in niche fields such as Data Science and Software Development and will offer a master’s degree in CS with an option of four specialisations, including Data Science and Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Software Engineering, and Cloud Computing.
These are 15-month programs that will propel learners toward high-growth careers in the tech domain with employment opportunities in India, the US, Europe, Canada and over 60 other countries.
On program completion, learners will be credited with 90 ECTS credits, making AlmaBetter’s master’s degree in Computer Science equivalent to an MS from any US or EU institution.
Joshua Broggi, Founder and Head of Woolf, Gastwissenschaftler at Humboldt University of Berlin, and Faculty of Theology and Religion at University of Oxford said Woolf’s Academic Advisory Council, includes prominent academics, like Pramath Raj Sinha, Founding Dean of the Indian School of Business and Founder of Ashoka University.
Nasscom recently reported that in the upcoming financial year alone, the new-age tech industry is poised to add about 3 lakh employees taking the total tally of employees to almost 5.4 million.
