It was a momentous occasion for all Amitians when Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Educational and Research Establishments, was awarded the “Prestigious Academia Award” for promoting and skilling youth in Defence Technologies, during India Defence Conclave-2023, organized by DRDO at New Delhi. The award was presented to him by the Chief Guest, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Science & Technology, PMO, Atomic Energy and Space, Govt. of India.
Inaugurating the Conclave, Chief Guest, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Science & Technology, PMO, Atomic Energy and Space, Govt. of India, averred, “India has traversed unlimited ‘Space’ in the last 9 years as Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has taken several policy initiatives. Defence and Space sectors received an enabling milieu from the Prime Minister for its faster and indigenous growth by bridging the policy gaps. India has joined the elite countries in Quantum Technologies and R&D in Quantum technologies are underway in US, Canada France, China and others. The strength and innovative potential of our young and private industrial enterprise will take a lead in the global space technology disruption in the near future.”
Delivering his acceptance speech, Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Educational and Research Establishments, said, “It is a matter of immense pleasure and honour for Amity to receive this award from Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Science & Technology and we are immensely grateful for this huge honor bestowed upon Amity. Amity strongly believes that by 2030, India will become a global superpower, under the visionary leadership of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji and by 2047, when India will celebrate 100 years of independence, it will be the economic and intellectual superpower of the world. Amity nurtures and prepares the future leaders of tomorrow who can lead the country and contribute to making it a global superpower.”
The Conclave witnessed active participation by esteemed dignitaries from Defence Sector and DRDO including Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri, Government of India, Air Chief Marshal V.R. Chaudhari, Chief of the Air Staff, Indian Air Force, Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO, Government of India, renowned members of the academia -Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director, IIT-Delhi, Dr. OR Nandagopan, Director, DRDO, Industry Academia-Ramanujan Centre of Excellence, IIT Madras, and Mr. Lazar Vukadinovic, Deputy Head of the Mission of the Republic of Serbia, amongst others.
During the Conclave, various sessions and panel discussions on topics such as “Propelling Sefl-reliance in India Defence and Aerospcace”, “The role of Cyber Security in Defence”, “Self-reliance and reforms in Defence Sector”, “Technologies and Systems for Future in Defence Sector Capitalizing New Opportunities”, “End-to-end Ecosystem for Leadership in Defence R&D” and many others, were also conducted.
Deliberating upon the theme, “Human Infrastructure Resources for Next Gen Technologies” during a Panel Discussion, Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President, Amity Science Technology & Innovation Foundation, said, “The three major key players for Self-reliant Defence Ecosystem are the DRDO, defence industries and the academia. India should not only become self-reliant but also “make for the world” by designing, manufacturing and supplying defence equipment to the whole world. Centers of Excellence for Defence Technology must be created by educational institutions and collaboration between academia, DRDO and industries is extremely crucial for the development of the defence sector in the country. The courses and programs in Defence Technology offered by Amity University are extremely beneficial for the students who aim to make their career in the field of Defence Technology.”
Addressing the gathering during the Valedictory Ceremony, Chief Guest, Shri Ajay Bhatt, Hon’ble Minister of State for Defence and Tourism, Government of India, stated, “India has witnessed unprecedented development, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister and today, the whole world is looking at India, whether it is in the field of healthcare, education, defence, infrastructure or any other sector. India is walking on the path of self-reliance and setting an example for the world, by consolidating its position as a strong economic and knowledge power. The day is not far when India will become the most developed nation in the world and lead other nations, in various fields.”
Amity University also showcased its path-breaking innovations during the India Defence Conclave 2023, including Nano-Breath-N95 PM 2.5 Antimicrobial face Mask, Project Divya Drishti, an AI Based Detection of a Person on Physiological Parameters, Reusable water-purifier using Silver Nano Particles, amongst others.
