The objective of the 12-weeks course, conducted by Amity Institute of Education & Training (AIET), was to prepare the soon to retire Armed Forces officers for taking up key jobs in educational institutes in administrative capacity or to open their own educational entrepreneurship ventures, as part of their second innings.
Welcoming the gathering, Brig BB Varma (Retd), Programme Director, Amity Institute of Education and Training lauded the officers for taking up an opportunity which will help in shaping their career after retirement and shared how majority of the course participants were rated as outstanding. He apprised that 320 officers have been trained so far in the Certificate Course in Management of Academic Institutions. Along with familiarizing officers with planning, management and administrative work of Academic Institutions as well as related key workplaces skills, they were also given lectures on how to manage their finances post retirement.
Speaking on the occasion, Maj Gen Sanjay Thapa, PVSM, Course Senior termed the experience of the course as fulfilling that gave them so much of flexibility. He also shared how the series of classes in Psychology and Behavioral Sciences were extremely helpful to handle the millennial generation and also the lessons in management that the batch experienced in the last three months. The participating officer also appreciated the opportunity provided by DGR and Amity University and mentioned that they look forward to the course and new career opportunities awaiting ahead.
Sharing his views, Lt Gen PD Bhargava, PVSM, AVSM (Retd), Group Deputy Vice Chancellor & Advisor Amity Institute of Telecommunication Technology & Management (AITTM) complimented the entrepreneurial spirit in most of the participants of the batch and encouraged them to open small institutions, especially in their hometowns. “Participation in this course would have given you the confidence to manage education institutions,” said Lt Gen PD Bhargava.
Also present on the occasion were Dr Alka Muddgal, Head, Amity Institute of Education (AIE) and Dr Ranjana Bhatia, Mentor, Amity Institute of Education (AIE) along with the staff and other faculty members.
