Amity University organizes exhibition on International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2022

Amity Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences (AIRS), Amity University Uttar Pradesh organized an Art Exhibition and Painting Competition, titled ‘Art from Heart’ #Created to Create, at its Noida Campus, on the occasion of “International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2022”.

The theme for this year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities by United Nations is “Transformative Solutions for Inclusive Development: The Role of Innovation in fueling an accessible and equitable world”. The objective of the art exhibition and painting competition was to recognize the artistic skills of children with special needs, to empower the differently abled persons and give them the right kind of recognition, inclusion and accessibility in the society, to instil a strong sense of belongingness and acceptance amongst the young Amitians towards persons with disabilities and to appreciate the artistic skills of the specially- abled and encourage their competencies

Admiring the efforts of the specially-abled children, Chief Guest, Shri Adwaita Gadanayak, Director General, National Gallery of Modern Art, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, averred, “It is extremely heartening and surprising to see the incredible talent of the specially-abled children who have displayed their artworks today. Amity has done a remarkable work by supporting a great noble cause and providing the platform and opportunity to the children to showcase their creative skills. It is extremely crucial to include them in the mainstream society, by providing them with equal opportunities and treating them with utmost respect and compassion.”

Encouraging the artists, Mrs. Divya Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity School of Fine Arts, Fashion Technology, Performing Arts, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, said, “Amity has always supported noble causes which add value to the society and help in the upliftment of various social strata, including the differently abled people. The children who have participated in the exhibition today are immensely talented and truly gifted and blessed by the Almighty as evident from the beautiful artworks displayed here today.”

The Guest of Honour, Dr. Rashmi Das Editor, TelecomLive & InfraLive; Chair, Mahagauri Autism Care Pvt. Ltd. Mentor, AuTypical, asserted, “We would like to congratulate Amity for organizing such a wonderful art exhibition for specially abled children. Their hard work, creativity and enthusiasm is unparalleled and their zest for life is commendable. Each one of them have their won dreams which they want to fulfil, and they are full of ambition and enthusiasm.”

The Art Exhibition showcased artworks by six differently abled persons and children including Suhrid Das, Anubha Agarwal, Amin Naqvi, Dhairya Kumar Pal, Shreyan and Jyotsimran Kohli. On this occasion, a painting competition was also organized where specially-abled children of various organizations including Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan, Noida Deaf Society, Manovikas School for Inclusion, Amar Jyoti School and Sunrise Learning participated. The first prize was presented to Mahesh from Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan, second prize went to Atika Gupta from Noida Deaf Society and the third prize went to Vansham Khurana from Amar Jyoti School and Khushboo from Mata Bhagwanti Chadha Niketan.
