Amity University has received the ‘Academic Excellence in Space Education and Research Award’ at the India International Space Conclave (IISC) 2025, organised by the Indian Space Association (ISpA) on 18–19 November 2025. The award was presented to Dr Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University, by Dr Jitendra Singh, minister of Science & Technology.
In his address at the inauguration, Dr Jitendra Singh said the conclave reflects the Prime Minister’s vision for the space sector and the growing global interest in India’s space capabilities. He added that India is becoming a preferred destination for space-related activities and emphasised the need to strengthen research and aim for global leadership in space science and technology.
Acknowledging the recognition, Dr Aseem Chauhan said the award reinforces Amity University’s commitment to advancing space science education and research, contributing to India’s space mission and developing future professionals in the field.
Dr W. Selvamurthy, president of the Amity Science, Technology & Innovation Foundation, said the recognition highlights Amity’s research contributions and its role in supporting national space initiatives. He noted the university’s involvement in projects such as the Amity Plant Experimental Module in Space (APEMS) under ISRO’s Spadex Mission, AI-based astronaut health monitoring, remote sensing analytics, and collaborations with ISRO and DRDO.
A Technical Report of the Indian DefSpace Symposium 2025, prepared by Amity scientists, was also released at the event. Dr Selvamurthy and Prof (Dr) Shivani Verma from the Amity Institute of Space Science & Technology participated as panellists in various sessions during the conclave.
