The work of the Climate Change Programme of the Commonwealth Secretariat focuses on building resilience against the negative impacts of climate change and developing a culture of environmental sustainability.
The internships will be conducted virtually, and students are chosen based on their profiles. The four students pursuing Bachelor of Technology specialising in Climate Change selected for the internship are Pareeta Agrawal, Tanya Batra, Harsh Chandurkar, and Prisha Kakade. They will be working with the Regional Adviser, Africa; the Knowledge & Learning Officer, and the Climate Adviser.
Miniya Chatterji, Founding Director of Anant School for Climate Action said, “The internships at the Commonwealth Office in London represent a remarkable opportunity for our students to benefit from an incredible learning experience and international exposure.”
The opportunity will allow students to work on real-world climate-related issues affecting Commonwealth countries worldwide. The internships will be available all year in varying weeks depending on the project, with the number of hours of work aligned with AnantU’s academic calendar. The student interns will receive a certificate from the Commonwealth Secretariat.
The Commonwealth Climate Change programme collaborates with 56 countries worldwide to protect the environment and use natural resources sustainably to mitigate climate change. The Commonwealth Secretariat’s Climate Change Programme advocates for international policies, mechanisms, and rules that are more responsive to the development needs of small islands, developing states, and other vulnerable countries.
Anant School for Climate Action is India’s first educational institution offering undergraduate degree programme focusing on climate change. Students from the Anant School for Climate Action pursuing Bachelor of Technology in Climate Change were recently also accepted as Villars Fellows at the prestigious Villars Institute in Switzerland.
