Arunachal Pradesh: Dismal implementation of Mid-day Meal scheme

Arunachal Pradesh Education commissioner C.B Kumar has expressed displeasure over the performance of Mid-Day Meal (MDM) scheme in Arunachal Pradesh.

Kumar, who inspected two schools on June 20, was displeased over dismal implementation of the central flagship programme, said official sources.

MDM, is one of the Centre’s flagship programmes aimed at achieving the goal of education for all besides seeking to improve child health by providing a nutritious meal at school. Kumar also expressed his displeasure over the conduct of classes, teaching process, punctuality of teaching staff and cleanliness of schools, one of the key aspects of academic environment.

The Commissioner cautioned the concerned teaching staff and the education authorities that no slackness will be tolerated and tough action will be taken against the erring officials.
He also directed the education authorities in the Directorate and in the districts to visit the schools on regular basis and furnish their inspection reports for appropriate action.

Simultaneously, the director of Elementary Education Bodong Yirang expressed similar discontent after visiting several schools in and outside the Capital Complex.

He directed the concerned school authorities to start their academic classes as per the annual school calendar activities 2013-14.

Meanwhile, Lower Dibang Valley deputy commissioner Shiv Kumar has expressed dissatisfaction over the state of implementation of MDM scheme in government schools located at Roing, the district headquarters.

The DC, who was on an inspection to various primary and middle schools in the town, directed the DDSE in-charge and school headmasters to ensure mid-day meal was served to the school children on daily basis within a week otherwise disciplinary action would be initiated against them, sources added.
