Hitesh Vijay Kumkar, a Grade 9 student of Arya Gurukul, Nandivali, Kalyan was recognized at the Veer Gatha 3.0 — a joint initiative of the Ministery of Defence and Ministry of Education. He has won a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and an opportunity to witness the Republic Day parade in Delhi as a special guest of the Ministry of Defence. He received the reward from the hands of the Hon’ble Defence Minister, Shri. Rajnath Singh.
In this unique project, standard 3 to 12 students from schools across the country sent in their entries for various categories such as essays, stories, poems, paragraph writing and multimedia presentations on Gallantry awardees and freedom fighters.
Over 1.4 cr students from over 2.4 lakh CBSE and non-CBSE schools had participated in this competition. After a series of evaluation, a total of 3891 entries were submitted for national level evaluation, from which 100 different entries were selected.
The student claims that his English teacher and Principal, Mrs. Radhamani Iyer have played a pivotal role in encouraging him and other students to send in their entries for these national level competitions. Students’ participation in these competitions helps build their confidence, enhances their general knowledge and exposes them to new challenges.
Mr. Bharat Malik, Chairman of Arya Gurukul concurs, “Hitesh Kumkar has not only shown his prowess in creative writing, but also helped motivate other students to grab the opportunities that our government presents to the new generation to express themselves through different mediums and channels. We are proud of our student who represented our school at the Republic Day parades.”
