Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has emphasized the need to enhance the governance and operations of Cotton University, the premier educational institution in the state, with the aim of achieving better academic outcomes.
During a meeting with the chancellor’s nominees and court members of the university on Tuesday, the governor urged them to actively promote and support exemplary practices that contribute to the advancement of higher education. He emphasized the role of the nominees as catalysts for positive change within universities, focusing on both academic and extracurricular accomplishments.
Governor Kataria highlighted the pivotal role that chancellor’s nominees play in shaping the quality of higher education institutions. He underscored their responsibility to cultivate a positive environment within the university, aiming to improve its overall effectiveness. The governor encouraged the nominees to champion best practices and provide constructive suggestions for continuous enhancement.
Additionally, Governor Kataria directed the nominees of the executive council and academic council to meticulously assess the selection processes, including candidate screening and the formation of the selection committee.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Mihir K. Chaudhuri, Advisor to the chancellor’s secretariat, SS Meenakshi Sundaram, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor, and other senior officials.
