The Atal Residential School in Lucknow, a much-anticipated initiative by the Uttar Pradesh government, has announced June 11 as the date for its entrance examination.
This exam will determine the eligibility of registered construction workers’ children and those orphaned by the pandemic for admission to the prestigious institution. With teaching scheduled to commence in July 2023, the Atal Residential School aims to provide free education, modern facilities, and a nurturing environment to students from Classes 6 to 12.
Deputy Labor Commissioner, Rakesh Dwivedi, revealed that the entrance test will be conducted across various cities, including Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Unnao, Hardoi, Sitapur, and Lakhimpur Kheri. This exam presents an exceptional opportunity for deserving candidates to secure a place at the renowned Atal Residential School.
Principal of this School, Sukhvir Singh, has been quoted by media as saying, “The entrance examination will serve as a crucial step in the admission process, as we aim to identify talented individuals who can benefit from the school’s exceptional educational resources.” He added, “We are pleased to receive over 1,000 applications, and out of these, 800 have been found eligible for the selection process.”
The Atal Residential School, situated in Sithoulikalan, Mohanlalganj, Lucknow, spans a vast area of 17 acres and has been constructed at a cost of ₹70 crore. Designed to mirror the successful model of Navodaya Vidyalaya, the school will provide students with state-of-the-art facilities, including well-equipped classrooms, laboratories, libraries, and sports amenities. Additionally, the institution will offer hostels for student accommodation, ensuring a comprehensive learning environment.
The upcoming entrance examination will consist of 80 objective-type questions, assessing candidates’ mental ability, mathematical proficiency, and language skills. Dwivedi emphasized the importance of candidates arriving at the examination center with their original admit card at least 30 minutes prior to the designated start time. The exam will be conducted from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with an additional 40 minutes granted to differently abled students. Candidates are advised to use a blue ballpoint pen when filling out the OMR sheet during the exam.
To facilitate the examination process, the Atal Residential School has designated various locations as exam centers. These include Government Jubilee Inter College in Lucknow, near City Railway Station; Government Inter College in Hardoi, near Bada Post Office, Civil Lines, Hardoi; Government Inter College in Unnao; Government Inter College in Sitapur; Government Inter College at Rae Bareli, near Bus Stand; and Government Inter College in Lakhimpur Kheri, opposite Kamnath Hospital.
