The Bal Bharati Public School, Gangaram Hospital Marg, is a coeducational day school established by the Child Education Society founded by the late Padma Vibhushan Lala Hansraj Gupta.
The school is housed on two campuses — Pusa Road and Ganga Ram Hospital Marg – in New Delhi. It is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education and is a member of National Public Schools Conference, an association of prominent public schools of India. The objective of the school is to offer internationally benchmarked education rooted in traditional Indian values.
Sited on six acres, the campus hosts six multi-storeyed blocks, one for Montessori, and one for primary and one each for middle, secondary and senior secondary sections. These blocks offer spacious classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, computer rooms, audiovisual room, libraries, language labs and rooms for creative activities such as art, painting, music, dance, etc. The school’s air-conditioned auditorium is equipped with the latest sound and lighting systems.
The school’s three libraries offer a vast collection that includes encyclopedias, fiction, reference books etc. The libraries also subscribe to a number of periodicals and journals. Bal Bharati has also introduced the concept of ‘classroom library’ from classes I to VIII. The class libraries offer 10-15 titles. A library for reference purposes has also been set up in the science and computer laboratories of senior sections.
The Montessori system of education is followed at the pre-primary level, which allows the child to develop at his/her own pace.
The CBSE prescribed curriculum is followed in classes I-XII. The school also follows the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system introduced by CBSE for all classes. CCE is an evaluation system which provides a holistic profile of the learner through regular assessments of scholastic and co-scholastic domains. In class XI-XII students are offered a choice of three streams — Humanities, Science and Commerce.
A number of outdoor activities such as swimming, aerobics, cycling, etc are offered. Inter and intra class competitions are held throughout the year to enable children to recognize their inherent talents.
Students are also encouraged to become members of several clubs such as astronomy, commerce, dramatics, economics, environment, heritage, IAYP (International Award for Young People) robotics club, scouts and guides.
