The Bangalore Military School is an all boys (BMS), formerly known as King George VI Royal Indian Military College and later as King George School, was promoted in May 1944 with the objective of providing education to the sons of defence service personnel for a career in the Armed Forces. In September 1952, the school was re-organised as a residential public school for boys; the objectives and the scope were enlarged and admissions were thrown open to civilian students as well, irrespective of caste, creed or social status.
The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi and prepares boys in the 10 to 18 years age group for the All-India Secondary School Examination and All India Senior School Certificate Examination, besides preparing them for the entrance examination for the National Defence Academy (NDA). The school aims to “Provide a healthy and sound holistic education and develop the qualities of mind, body and character among the students, enabling them to become useful citizens of India.”
Most of the school buildings at BMS belong to the pre-independence era, lending an old-world charm to the 68-acre school campus. BMS boasts world class facilities for sports and games such as football, volleyball, basketball, hockey, cricket, athletics, badminton, lawn tennis, table tennis, boxing, swimming and judo. The school boasts a fully equipped gymnasium, facilities for roller skating and provides mountain bikes for adventure hikes. The school has been chosen by Sports Authority of India (SAI) as a nodal centre for boxing and regular training in boxing is provided for the students of BMS.
Medical facilities include an eight-bedded hospital, staffed with an authorized medical officer and two nursing assistants.
The school is affiliated with CBSE and offers education from class V to XII. It prepares the students for the AISSE and AISSSE examinations at class X and XII respectively, besides preparing them for the entrance exams for NDA every year.
Extracurricular: Believing extracurricular activities to be an intrinsic part of holistic education, BMS encourages students to engage themselves in sports such as football, basketball, hockey, swimming, and horse riding.

The school aims to “Provide a healthy and sound holistic education and develop the qualities of mind, body and character among the students, enabling them to become useful citizens of India.”
Since Bangalore Military School is a boarding school, hostel facilities are provided.
