As the 5th case of COVID-19 infections is being confirmed in Bangalore, the state government declared summer vacations for all urban and rural schools from March 13, the Minister for Primary and Secondary Education S Suresh Kumar said on Thursday.
No exam will be conducted up to grade 6 and promotion will be based on previous performance. Meanwhile, for grades 7 to 9, students appearing for the exam will finish by March 23.
As many as 1,220 people have been identified for observation out of which 292 have completed 28 days of observation and 906 persons are still under home quarantine. These include those who had a travel history to coronavirus-affected countries or were in contact with affected individuals.

Besides, the State Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said, “In the wake of controlling the spread of coronavirus, we are debating whether to close malls and movie theatres for a few days. We are still discussing this and we will be making an announcement soon.”
