Bharti Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Basic Education Department of Uttar Pradesh. The partnership aims to enhance the quality of education in the state by providing technical support and implementing co-scholastic initiatives.

Under the terms of the MoU, Bharti Foundation will offer technical assistance to the State Resource Teams as part of the Large Scale Initiative. This includes training the resource people and providing them with relevant materials, including digital content. Additionally, the foundation will support the government’s efforts under the Satya Bharti Quality Support Program by directly assisting select government schools in the state. The focus will be on implementing co-scholastic initiatives for the students.

The Satya Bharti Quality Support Program, initiated by Bharti Foundation, seeks to transform partner government schools into vibrant and effective learning institutions. The program’s framework is based on four pillars, namely students’ empowerment, school leadership and teacher engagement, parents and community involvement, and improving the overall school environment.

Since its inception, the program has made a positive impact on over 490,000 students and nearly 19,000 teachers across more than 1,200 schools. It has led to improvements in students’ behavior, holistic growth, life skills, and regular attendance, among other positive outcomes.

Building on the success of the Satya Bharti Quality Support Program, the Foundation has been invited by education officers at the district and state levels to scale up some of its initiatives under the Large Scale Initiative. This expanded program has already benefited 1.9 million students, more than 120,000 teachers, and over 24,000 schools, with the involvement of 1,000 resource persons.

Expressing her gratitude, Ms. Mamta Saikia, CEO of Bharti Foundation, thanked the government officials from Uttar Pradesh for their invaluable support. She emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to fostering holistic development for students through programs such as the Satya Bharti Quality Support Program and Large Scale Initiatives. She also expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with the supportive team.

Bharti Foundation has been implementing the Satya Bharti School program in Uttar Pradesh since 2007. Currently, the foundation operates three schools in Farrukhabad and nine schools in Shahjahanpur district. These schools provide free and high-quality education to over 2,700 children, with 59% of them being girls. The majority of the students come from underprivileged families, where parents are primarily engaged in daily wage work or agricultural labor.

The partnership between Bharti Foundation and the Basic Education Department of Uttar Pradesh holds the promise of further improving educational outcomes and empowering students in the state.
