Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (BSV), formerly known as Bhatkhande Music Institute Deemed University, has announced the commencement of admissions for its various performing arts courses. Prospective candidates can obtain the admission forms starting from the first week of July by paying a nominal fee of Rs 500. The courses offered include graduation, post-graduation, and diploma programs in a wide range of streams, encompassing Hindustani Classical (Vocal), Instrumental (Sitar, Sarod, Violin, Sarangi, Guitar, and Flute), Percussion (Tabla, Pakhawaj), and Dance (Kathak and Bharatnatyam).

Excitingly, BSV has introduced a significant change in its admission policy this year. As per the new education policy, candidates who have not completed their 6-year diploma in performing arts will now be eligible to apply for graduation courses. Registrar of BSV, Srishti Dhaon, shared, “For the first time, we will be allowing candidates who have not completed their 6-year diploma in performing arts to apply for graduation courses. This change has been made as per the new education policy.”

Established in 1926 by Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande, Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya holds the distinction of being a state university dedicated to the advancement of music education in Lucknow, India. Previously known as Bhatkhande Music Institute Deemed University, it attained the status of a deemed university in 2000, as declared by the University Grants Commission (UGC). In 2022, the university received further recognition and was elevated to the status of a state university under The Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya Act, 2022.

BSV is renowned for its unique standing as the only cultural university of its kind. With its focus on providing education in Vocal Music, Applied Music, and Dance, the institution imparts knowledge in Indian classical music, folk songs, and folk dance. Rooted in a rich history, BSV remains dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Indian classical music, ensuring its accessibility to all enthusiasts.

The university’s recent upgrade to a state university has empowered BSV to affiliate with other music colleges, a privilege it previously lacked while being under the jurisdiction of the Department of Culture. This development opens doors for expanded collaboration and the nurturing of talent in the field of music education.

As the forms for admission become available in July, Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya invites aspiring performers and music enthusiasts to seize the opportunity and embark on a rewarding journey within the realm of performing arts.
