On August 4, Billabong High International School, Noida (BHIS) Noida in collaboration with Hindustan Times PACE organised an inter school literary event ‘The Chronicles of Discourse’ aimed at channelising the positive energies of young learners across schools towards effective communication and making a difference in society.
The event was graced with eminent personas such as Matthias Stahle from Carl – Duisberg Gymnasium (CDG) Wuppertal, Germany; Shantanu Guha Ray (India editor for Central European News), Vaijayanti Savant Tonpe (writer and editor of children’s books), Chirojit Mukherjee (senior advocate Delhi High Court and Supreme Court), Hindol Kundu (managing director, Rain Tide Creative Business Solutions Pvt Ltd), Mithu Chatterjee (HT Pace), Urvashi Sabu (Associate professor, P.G.D.A.V College, Delhi University) and Manvinder Kaur (former Head of School, DPS, Siddharth Vihar).
Open for students of grade IX to XII, the event witnessed participation from schools across Noida and Delhi NCR. The much awaited day commenced with a grand opening ceremony which included a welcome song and an enthralling dance performance by the students of BHIS Noida, followed by felicitation of the honourable guests by the principal of the school, Sharmila Chatterjee. Debate, radio show and panel discussion were some of the various events in which the learners avidly participated.
The student panelists put forth their views with imperforate ardency and enthusiasm on the topic “Gender Sensitisation – being safe & responsible” and debaters deliberated on the topic “Social is human to Human is social”. The teams of the Radio Show presented their ideas around varied topics such as dynamic sports, censorship in movies, life in a metro and more.
The overall Runners-Up Trophy was bagged by Lotus Valley School, Noida and Uttam School for Girls, Ghaziabad, bagged the overall Winner’s Trophy. The school director Jasmine Gandhi presented the trophies to the proud and deserving winners at the valedictory ceremony.
Speaking about the initiative, Sharmila Chatterjee, principal of Billabong High International School & Kangaroo Kids Noida said, “We feel delighted to have organised this and witness such talented young learners express themselves vividly. We were honoured to have such guests who motivated and inspired the young speakers to present their perspectives.”
