The Chief Secretary of Bihar, Deepak Kumar announced that schools will reopen for classes 9 to 12 from January 4, 2021. Colleges for final year students will also reopen from the same date. The decision was announced after a high-level meeting of the crisis management committee.
Apart from schools and colleges, the education department has also allowed reopening of coaching institutes in the state.
A decision on reopening of schools for junior classes would be taken by the government after reviewing the situation after 15 days. If seem fit, the schools would be reopened for junior classes from January 18, 2021.
All educational institutes and coaching classes have to strictly follow the SOPs issued by the administration. The government has also announced the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the reopening of schools and colleges.
As per same, schools and colleges would have to ensure all the safety guidelines issued by Ministry of Health and Education from time to time. Also, specifically, for schools, students would be divided into two batches and would be required to attend school on alternate days to avoid overcrowding and to maintain social distancing.
