Birla Public School Vidya Niketan, Pilai is a boys boarding school in Rajasthan affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board. The school was founded by the Birla Educational Trust in 1944 as a Montessori school under the able guidance of Maria Montessori, the world famous pioneer in child education. It was then known as Shishu Mandir. The institution remained a day school till 1948 and the first hostel for children was built in the same year. By 1952, the school was changed into a purely residential institution. A year later, the school was accepted as a full member of the Indian Public School Conference. Under the vision and guidance of renowned educationist and industrialist G.D. Birla, this nursery school gradually developed into a full-fledged public school in 1954. It has now 15 beautifully designed hostels catering to the needs of the 1000 pupils coming from different cultural backgrounds. The school has three sprawling green campuses with vast play grounds and courts.

The school is located at a distance of 200 kms from Delhi and 225 kms. from Jaipur. School campus is spread over an area of about 100 acres and is divided into three sections – junior, middle and senior sections containing 14 hostels with modern amenities, three messes, three auditoriums/assembly halls, three well equipped M I rooms, three libraries, swimming pool, riding school, health club / gym with modern facilities. The school is also well equipped with physics, chemistry, biology and computer laboratories. Other extra co-curricular activities provided include horse riding, swimming, judo, karate, music, art, band, NCC, metal craft, wood craft and spacious play fields for all major games/sports.
The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and is recognised by the Rajasthan Government. It was granted permanent affiliation status on May 1, 1985 and is the first school to be granted curricular autonomy in maths and science by the CBSE from the year 1991-1992.
Courses have been devised with the aim to prepare students for the secondary and senior secondary school certificate examination according to CBSE pattern of education. Options available for students of XI and XII are:
(a) Engineering group : English, physics, chemistry and mathematics, computer science. 6th subject – health and physical education.
(b) Medical group : English, physics, chemistry and biology, mathematics or computer science. 6th subject – health and physical education.
(c) Management group: English, business studies, accountancy, economics, mathematics or computer science or entrepreneurship management. 6th subject – health and physical education.
Professional coaching and counseling : Coaching is offered for IIT, JEE, BITSAT, CPMT, AFMC, NDA and Cambridge Test etc. & student counseling by counselors and guest lecturers and specialized talks by BITS faculty
As part of the art education, students learn commercial art, painting, photography, music, drama and a number of co-curricular activities such as swimming; skating, judo, gymnastics, yoga, sports, horse riding, music, band, art, craft (wood and metal), computer education, electronics and NCC are also encouraged.
Scholarship
The school offers Aditya Vikram Birla Memorial Scholarship of Rs. 15000/- each to four meritorious students every year. The school awards IPSC scholarship of Rs. 15000/- to deserving students.

Admissions are open to classses V-IX and XI. The minimum age of the student, as on 1st of April for admission should be 10 years for class V and as computed for higher classes.
The correlation of age and the class to which admission is sought is a must. Birth certificate from the municipal board or a recognised institution only is accepted. The application for registration should be sent to the principal by May 30 on the prescribed form.
To obtain an application form and prospectus of the school, a demand draft of Rs.200 should be sent in favour of principal, Birla Public School drawn at UCO Bank or State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur or State Bank of India payable at Pilani/ IPO Money Order is also accepted . A fee of Rs. 1900 is to be paid at the time of registration, along with the completed application form. A sum of Rs. 10,000/- is charged as admission fee at the time of admission only.
