IPSited on a five-acre green campus off the Dwarka Expressway, the Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, Sector 10, Gurugram (BDBBPS, estb.2003), has acquired an excellent reputation for providing high-quality holistic, ICT-driven education to its 1,500 students mentored by 105 teachers. Currently celebrating its 21st anniversary, this K-12 school is ranked among the Top 10 co-ed day schools in Gurugram in the EducationWorld India School Rankings 2024-25. Moreover, the school was ranked #2 countrywide in the EducationWorld Grand Jury India School Rankings 2023-24 for technology integration.

A constituent of the Blue Bells Group of Schools that owns and manages four K-12 schools in Delhi NCR, this CBSE-affiliated school was promoted over two decades ago under the aegis of Shri Dhanpat Rai Memorial Bal Shiksha Vikas Society (estb.1981) by former Chief Town Planner of the Haryana government Brahm Dutt Gulati, his educationist wife Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, and Shri Mahesh Chandra. The school’s mission was to “nurture intellectually, emotionally and ethically strong global citizens”. Since then, true to its mission statement, BDBBPS has evolved into a full-fledged co-ed school distinguished for harnessing technology and global best practices.

“We believe in continuous improvement and upgradation of our curriculum, pedagogy and infrastructure to keep pace with changing times. In our journey of over two decades, we have aspired to ensure that our students enjoy the liberal culture of the Blue Bells Group in an enabled and empowered environment. To make certain that our children are in sync with contemporary technology trends, we have introduced subjects such as data science, AI, design thinking, coding and robotics as club activities from the middle school onwards. Our goal is to nurture well-rounded, ethical, empathetic, culturally aware, physically fit and academically bright global citizens ready to take on challenges of the future,” says Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, a political science, public administration and teaching alumna of Panjab University with an honorary doctorate conferred by the University of Columbia, USA.

To fulfill its objective of enabling all-round development of students, the management has invested liberally in state-of-the-art academic and sports facilities. The school’s impressive infrastructure includes an academic block housing 60 air-conditioned classrooms, 41 of which are equipped with interactive white boards, five auditoriums, seminar and activity halls, and a well-equipped medical infirmary. Moreover, BDBBPS prides itself on its ten modern science, Atal Tinkering, robotics and computer science laboratories. The school has two separate libraries with an aggregate 19,067 print volumes.

“BD Blue Bells Public School was conceptualised to fulfill the needs of 21st century learners. Therefore, we offer an inquiry-based curriculum, where learning-by-doing is compulsory. Assimilation of conceptual knowledge and application; theme-based transdisciplinary learning; excellence in scholastic, co-scholastic, and life-skills education are at the core of our pedagogy. For our highly qualified teachers who power this institution, professional development training workshops are organised regularly,” says Ashish Gulati, an alum of Manipal & Manchester universities and the top-ranked Management Development Institute, Gurugram, and Vice Chairman of the Blue Bells Group of Schools

Inevitably, sports education is accorded high importance. The school’s impressive sports infrastructure includes a dedicated cricket ground, indoor sports arena, a football ground, two basketball, six badminton, lawn tennis and volleyball courts, a table-tennis room, roller-skating rink, separate rooms for yoga, aerobics, chess, carrom and Taekwondo. Unsurprisingly, Blue Bellians have excelled in national cricket, badminton and other inter-school tournaments.

Co-curricular education — music, karate, fine arts, classical and Western dance, sculpture among others  is also an integral component of the curriculum. In addition, 19 hobby clubs are offered to primary-secondary students to promote literary, creative, technical, and artistic skills.

The school’s focus on balanced education has paid off by way of excellent board exam results. Of the 124 students who wrote the CBSE class X exam in February 2024, 59 averaged above 90 percent while the school and CBSE topper Ayshi Gupta averaged 99.4 percent. Of the 133 students who wrote the class XII exam, 41 students scored above 90 percent.

With this 21-year-old school having established a formidable reputation in the national capital region, the top management has drawn up a master plan to “continuously upgrade and innovate”. “We intend to consistently invest in our three critical pillars of learning — pedagogy, holistic well-being and technology — to equip our learners with future-ready skills and values. Simultaneously our experienced faculty is regularly brought up to speed with advanced personalised learning programs to give of their best,” says Ashish Gulati.
