Byju Raveendran will take over the daily operations of the ed-tech giant Byjus as the chief executive officer Arjun Mohan has resigned, according to an official statement from the platform.
Mohan, however, will continue to assist the company externally while they transition into a new phase.
In an official statement on Monday, Byjus announced the initiation of a major rejig of the business which will fork the business into three divisions with diverse focus – The Learning App, online classes and tuition centres, and test prep.
“The changes follow an extensive seven-month operational review and cost optimisation exercise led by outgoing BYJU’S India CEO Arjun Mohan. This new phase will also see Byju Raveendran taking a more hands-on approach in spearheading the daily operations of the company,” the company said in an official statement.
Mohan, who will hold an external advisory role and offer his edtech expertise to the company and its founders during this transformation phase.
The statement also said, “With this new organisational structure and with the return of Byju Raveendran as the operational leader, BYJU’S is now well-positioned to begin its next chapter of innovation-led growth by launching at scale its new suite of AI-first products that have already received an overwhelmingly positive feedback in the pilot phase.”
This comes 10 months after Byju’s appointed Mohan who was the former CEO of upGrad, as the CEO of its international business.
