What is Home Science?
Home science is the science concerning nutrition and wellness, health, human development and other consumer issues. It is the education for “better living” centering on the family ecosystem. The study of home science assesses reciprocal relations between the family unit and its natural and man-made environments and aims at extracting the maximum level of satisfaction for the family ecosystem through the efficient and scientific use of resources and ensures proper nutrition, health and child development by combining various sciences and humanities.
Job Description
- Responsibilities include maintaining patients’ good health and making diet sheets specific to the patients’ health
- Coordinating with the pantry to ensure dietary regulations
- Educating patients and household members about self-care, preserving optimum health and proper nutrition
- Examining patients’ medical histories and assigning codes to diagnoses and measures achieved
