What is Hospitality Management & Catering?
Hospitality management refers to the application of management concepts and structured leadership in the areas of accommodation, dining and general guest services. Hospitality Management deals with businesses such as hotels, bed and breakfasts, resorts and cruise ships. Catering is a part of the hospitality management system dealing with planning menus, and setting up utensils and other equipment and the provision, transportation and preparation of food for clients, particularly for special events such as conferences, weddings, celebrations, or large gatherings.
Job Description
- Hiring qualified personnel according to standards and supervising, organizing and coordinating operations to ensure maximum efficiency
- Assuming responsibility of budgeting and monitoring expenses
- Designing, creating and submitting menus, sourcing all ingredients and finalizing head counts before the events
- Transporting food, tables and other items needed to serve food during an event to ensure that all catering job move smoothly and efficiently
