What is Liberal Arts?

Liberal arts are an expansive field that encompass humanities disciplines including literature, psychology, political science, philosophy, etc. and other subdisciplines such as social sciences, natural sciences and mathematics. A liberal arts degree is designed to help develop skills such as critical thinking and problem solving. Liberal arts in the modern sense comprises four primary areas: the natural sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities. Academic areas within liberal arts include life sciences, physical science, logic and mathematics, philosophy, history and creative arts.
