What is Medical Science?
Medical science is the sector of health science concerned with maintaining human health and managing the diagnosis, prognosis, prevention, treatment or palliation of patients’ injuries and diseases. It is an area of knowledge (a science of body systems, their diseases and treatments) as well as the applied practice of the knowledge. Medical sciences encompass a variety of specialized sub-branches such as cardiology, neurology, biomedical research, genetics, etc. which aim at the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of illnesses.
Job Description
- Responsibilities of a medical professional include diagnosing and treating medical conditions, disorders and diseases through the application of specialist medical skills and knowledge
- Assessing and planning treatment requirements and performing surgical procedures and operations
- Undertaking patient consultations and physical examinations and prescribing lab tests and interpreting test results
- Monitoring and administering medication and maintaining medical records
