What is Operations Management?

Operations Management is the administration of business practices to create the highest possible level of efficiency within an organization. This area of management is concerned with designing and controlling the processes of production and converting materials and labour into goods and services as efficiently as possible to maximize profits. It involves the responsibility of ensuring that business operations are efficient in terms of using as few resources as needed and effective in terms of meeting customer requirements.

Responsibilities of an operations manager include making important policy, planning and strategy decisions
Working closely with legal and safety departments to ensure activities remain compliant with laws and regulations
Overseeing budgeting, reporting, auditing and inventory management
Building alliances and partnerships with other organizations
